Jones Point Tower Nears Completion

Jones Point Tower Nears Completion: A Key Step Forward in Expanding Critical Connectivity

Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, Northern CA The Hoopa Valley Public Utilities District (HVPUD) is pleased to announce that the Jones Point Tower, an essential part of the Fiber-To-The-Home network, is now more than 95% complete.

The tower will play a major role in delivering fast, reliable internet to the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, helping close the digital divide and bring new opportunities in education, healthcare, business, and more, including the potential for future cellular upgrades.

Due to its close proximity to the Hoopa Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required that this particular tower be outfitted with specialized lighting to ensure air safety. The light flashes white during the day and red at night to alert nearby aircraft of its location. While this may look different from other towers in the region, this safety measure is a federally mandated requirement that keeps our skies safe.

To minimize the visual impact, the tower has been powder-coated a green color to better blend with the surrounding landscape. In addition, this is a hybrid site, meaning it's energy self-sufficient and powered by solar energy. Alongside the tower, the site features an equipment shelter and solar panels, enabling it to operate independently and sustainably. The tower has been fully stacked (assembled), and the FAA-required lighting has already been installed.

Once the remaining finishing touches are completed, the Jones Point Tower will be ready to help connect more homes and businesses as part of HVPUD’s ongoing broadband expansion efforts.

We thank the community for its continued support and look forward to sharing more updates as this historic project progresses. For project updates, traffic alerts, and additional information, visit acornconnected.com.
